hi brook,
my name is riane, im a 29yr australian who just arrived home from a RTW trip with my 19yr old sister. i've watched your documentary on the NAT GEO Adventure channel at least 3 times now in the last 3 weeks that i have been back.

my sis and i didn't get to all of the places that you went to but, we had a fantastic time in the places that we got to. right now, my only feeling is the need to hop back on a plane, to get lost in a new city and to continue on the journey that we started almost a year ago.

what you did took a lot of guts and determination... without those.. you probably wouldn't have created a fantastic MAP for Saturday. my sis and i have mirrored nearly all of the emotions that you felt and i sincerely hope that you enjoyed your RTW just as much as we enjoyed ours.

with all the success that a MAP FOR SATURDAY has brought you... i really hope that there will be a MAP FOR SUNDAY in production soon.

congratulations!!

I'd like to call myself a fellow backpacker, the same breed as you and all others who wander around your site trying to relive the best moment of all of our lives - on the road, with new friends made from far corners of the globe, not having a care in the world, just living each and every moment with joy and passion. Because that's what traveling is about - passion about the world, to be in the world. It's not a "vacation". It's our lifestyle, the way we would want to live. While it is always good to go home to familiar family and friends once in a while, we prefer to be out there, experiencing the thrill and buzz the world gladly offers. It is a big and crazy and beautiful world, and I, for one, love to be in awe of it always.

Thanks for reminding me who I am deep inside. :-)

Wow Brook,
It is almost uncanny, just today I decided after this final business deal I am about to conclude, I will do 3 to 6 months on the road. Hi I'm dereck. I have lived in several countries already in this Western Hemisphere and I can't quite put my hand on the reason why there remains this unsettling feeling about seeing more, but I simply have to.
I was truly impressed with your decision to do what you did, but you made a good choice thats probably turning out to be a good living also. Well, I know you must be terribly busy, but if you have a moment, can we exchange a few e-mails?
Again, great show and all the best in your endeavours.
Cheers!

i'd like to say more,
but all that comes to mind is -
its all so spectacularly breathtaking.

and i think that,
given all that the photos say for themselves.
that can suffice.

hi, here's stefania, from italy.
i saw you on natgeo a few months ago, but i like your travel so much and i continue to think about it. i would like to be as brave as you to take my bag and leave.
maybe the only thing that stops me is the idea of travelling alone. if only i could find a person, maybe only to start this adventure, i will start tomorrow my travel...
ok, as always i talk too much ^^
big up for you and sorry for my horrible english ^_______^

Hello! I am Paul and I am from the Philippines. I just finished watching your video journey at the National Geographic Channel. Thanks for bringing back lots of memories and for sharing some insight in the world of traveling. I consider myself only as a weekend backpacker. Did a few travels abroad, only 9 countries so far, but I have basically covered my country’s 7,107 islands, well most of it.

What brought me home, while watching your show, was when you talked about places that you’ve visited and that they are cold and lonely places now as most of the people you met there have gone home or moved on as well. Listening it from you and other travellers really brought down the cold reality of such truth that had lingered on the back of head in all of my travels.

Thanks for showing it real. Good luck in your future endeavours bro.

Vaya con Dios!

Hi Brook - thanks for your comment too. It's so interesting reading about and watching other people's experiences. I'm fortunate in that my work (I finally got the dream job in the field that I work in) takes me abroad and I get to live in various countries as an expat. for three months at a time. However, I'm keen to get off the beaten track and use my leave to see outside of the cotton wool envelope that I so easily get wrapped up in while doing the 9-5 thing. I've experienced back-packing and hostels and doing the travelling thing too but for no more than a month at a time. You guys are in a different league - I'm still tempted to do the gap year before I grow up! 30 is the new 20 right?!

Enjoyed the trailer of your African project. When will that be on the screens?!

Hi there i've just watched your movie. Very inspiring.
I have only one question, why didn't you visit Indonesia on your trip?
(Don't tell me you don't know it's a country ;p)

Hey Curipandang...
I sure do know Indonesia is a country, unfortunately there are 200+ other countries and I just couldn't visit all of them. I've been in contact with a few Indonesians so I hope to make it there one day, maybe I'll see you then.
